A first-generation Canadian with Portuguese roots, Sylvia's connection to the South Okanagan dates back to the late 1980s, where she spent her childhood and adult years immersed in the serenity of an orchard in Oliver.
In 1998, Sylvia embarked on her journey into esthetics at the Marvel College of Esthetics in Kelowna. A constant seeker of knowledge, she has continued to evolve her expertise with courses in business management, reflexology, massage, Reiki, and, most recently, as a Laser Technician specializing in Laser Hair Removal, and Skin Rejuvenation. She is also a current student of "School of the Sacred Wild" Learning about the gift the plants around us offer. Positioning herself at the forefront of spa trends.
Venturing into entrepreneurship in 2000 marked a bold chapter for Sylvia. After a transformative backpacking trip around Australia, she returned with a vision, giving life to Athina’s Desert Day Spa.
From humble beginnings, Sylvia's spa flourished, expanding into a larger space within a heritage home. For over two decades, Sylvia has passionately owned and operated the Oliver spa, earning accolades as the best day spa in the South Okanagan for many consecutive years.
Her journey took an exciting turn when she co-opened Levia Wellness Spa in Osoyoos BC . However, drawn by a desire for a more balanced life, Sylvia made the courageous decision to return to Oliver in 2017. Here, she downsized to embrace a better work-life balance and found renewed love in her independent endeavors.
Creativity is Sylvia's heartbeat, expressed through various mediums – from restoring antiques to adorning her home, cultivating her urban farm, and crafting nourishing meals for her cherished family.

As we step into the promising horizon of 2024, Sylvia is set to introduce a Sauna experience, unveil a luxurious plant-based skincare line, and deepen her commitment to a holistic approach within her business.
